This is a training vessel with over 600 students. You are challenged every day with either class, work, or watch. You work in groups to gain hands on experience with shipboard operations.

Best part: The hands on experience was by far the most important and best part of sailing on this ship as a cadet. The summer sea term experience has helped me greatly with understanding how an engine room on a ship operates.

Wish I knew: I wish I knew how big the work groups would be. This definitely took away some of the experience to be gained. Too many people assigned to small jobs and lack of time to explain a whole system's inner workings. The licensed staff work hard to share their knowledge however it it impossible for everyone to get their hands on experience.
