USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) is the second Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. Named for the 34th President of the United States and commissioned in 1977, the ship supports carrier air warfare, maritime security, crisis response, deterrence and other publicly stated naval missions.
